A 65-year-old Papillion man riding a three-wheeled motorcycle was critically injured Wednesday morning in an accident near the Douglas-Sarpy County line.

James Garrett was flown by medical helicopter to Creighton University Medical Center after the 6:50 a.m. crash at Harrison Street and Nebraska Highway 31.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said Garrett was southbound on Highway 31 and an SUV driven by Jacob Molko, 25, of Sarpy County was westbound on Harrison and had stopped at the highway. The sheriff’s office said Molko said he didn’t see Garrett and pulled in front of the motorcycle, with the bike striking the SUV.

An ambulance was also dispatched to the crash scene, and Harrison and Highway 31 were temporarily closed.

Reports to Douglas County 911 emergency dispatchers indicated that Garrett was suffering from severe abdominal pain, a possible broken wrist and contusions when he was taken to CUMC.

No citations were issued after the crash, the sheriff’s office said, and the accident remains under investigation.
