TIFFIN — A plea hearing for a 20-year-old eastern Iowa man charged in the traffic death of a friend has been postponed.

Zachary Swenka of North Liberty was expected to plead guilty Friday to charges stemming from the October 2011 crash that killed Mackenzie Lown, 14, of Amana.

Swenka’s lawyer, Matt Adam, filed for a continuance Thursday. No new hearing date has been set for Swenka, who was charged with vehicular homicide and involuntary manslaughter.

Swenka is accused of driving more than 100 mph on U.S. Highway 6 on Oct. 17, 2011, before losing control and colliding with a van, killing Lown.
