Police say a 37-year-old Omaha woman apparently was struck and injured Sunday night by a vehicle that fled from the scene.

Amherstine Marker was taken to Nebraska Medical Center with serious nonlife-threatening injuries after the 6:20 p.m. hit-and-run at 24th and Sprague Streets, police said.

A scan was performed at the med center and no major injuries were found, officials said.

An investigation determined that Marker may have been struck by a vehicle, police said.

Witnesses were unable to provide details about the accident and there was no clear vehicle description.

At the med center, Marker was unable to provide a statement to police after she became combative.

The investigation into the hit-and-run is continuing, police said.
