Police arrested a 27-year-old Omaha man early Wednesday after he led authorities on a brief car chase, fled on foot and than was captured while attempting to hide.
Police said Michael Rogers was spotted about 3 a.m. driving a Ford Focus with expired license plates in the area of John J. Pershing Drive and Read Street in northeast Omaha. He then fled from police at a high rate of speed. Rogers was located running from the vehicle near Seventh and Jaynes Street. He was taken into custody a short later after attempting to hide in a garage in the area.
Police said Rogers, who was wanted on misdemeanor and felony warrants, was carrying a taser and less than one ounce of marijuana. A search of the Focus turned up 25 grams of meth and a crack cocaine pipe, police said.
He was arrested on suspicion of driving during suspension, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a weapon by a prohibited person, felony flight to avoid arrest, possession of marijuana of less than one ounce, and possession with intent to deliver.
