Police investigate shooting near Des Moines school

DES MOINES — Des Moines police said at least 10 gunshots were fired in a drive-by shooting near King Elementary School.

The shooting happened Friday night.

Police found no evidence that anything in the area had been hit.

Residents reported hearing an outburst of gunfire about 8 p.m. near the intersection of Clark and 18th Streets.

Officers recovered 10 spent shell casings in the area. Nine looked as if they were the same caliber. A tenth appeared to be of another make and caliber.
