Westside budget (and possible shortfall) to be discussed

  • 0

The Westside Community Schools will hold the first of three meetings early Tuesday to inform parents and other community members about the district's budget process for the 2013-14 school year.

The district is anticipating a budget shortfall for the coming year, said Peggy Rupprecht, a district spokeswoman. The district has not yet released an exact figure.

The meetings are an initiative of Blane McCann, Westside's new superintendent. The budget-focused sessions will be the first of a series of informational meetings intended to communicate with the public.

During the budget sessions, Westside officials also will outline the district's educational priorities and seek input from the public on their opinions and priorities.

Tuesday's session will be at 7:30 a.m. at Rockbrook Elementary, 2514 South 108th Street.

The other two meetings will be 6 p.m. on Jan. 17 at Westbrook Elementary, 1312 Robertson Drive, and 6 p.m. on Jan. 23 at Westside High School Little Theater, 87th and Pacific Streets.
