Wings of Hope Cancer Support Center, an organization committed to helping cancer patients and their families, announced that it has received a $2,000 grant from the eBay Foundation Corporate Advised Fund at the Silicon Valley Community Foundation.
The grant was recommended by eBay Foundation's employee volunteer-led Omaha GIVE Team.
According to Carolyn Ettinger, program administrator at Wings of Hope, the grant will be used to fund a portion of the center's Healing and Hope for the Journey project. The eBay grant will specifically assist Wings of Hope in providing support for the physical and emotional needs of cancer patients and families at the time of cancer diagnosis and throughout treatment. Ettinger said the project includes:
» The Hope Chest Renewal Room, which provides comfort for cancer patients during their treatment.
» The HOPE Program, which provides transportation vouchers and prescription assistance.
» Counseling sessions.
“This grant will allow us to greatly enhance the level of care and support we can provide to cancer patients and their families in southwest Iowa,” said Patti Higginbotham, president of the Wings of Hope board of directors.
