A woman accused of fatally stabbing her boyfriend while they were drinking is being held without bail following an appearance Tuesday before a Douglas County Court judge.

Colleen C. Cannon, 42, is charged with second-degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony in the stabbing death of Darryel L. Fields, 43, early Saturday in their home at 6106 Park Lane Drive. She faces 20 years to life in prison on the first charge and one to 50 years on the second.

An assistant Douglas County prosecutor said the couple had been drinking early Saturday when Fields dropped a glass of alcohol and it shattered on the floor. An argument resulted in Cannon stabbing Fields in the chest, he said.

Police and rescue personnel responded to a 911 call of man having been stabbed about 7:50 a.m. Fields was pronounced dead at the scene.

Douglas County Court records also show that Fields and Cannon have at least two children together.
