Here’s some good news: The U.S. Senate has unanimously confirmed magistrate Leonard T. Strand, a Sioux City native, as the next federal judge for Iowa’s Northern District. And here’s the bad news: There are 81 federal court vacancies right now, with 39 nominations pending. One of those waiting is Omaha attorney Robert Rossiter Jr., whose nomination to the federal bench has now been pending for eight months.
