The more than 250 birds off exhibit during the renovation of the Lee G. Simmons Aviary are ready to take flight in their revamped, environmentally conscious exhibit, which reopens to the public today.

The zoo has been open for nearly a week and looks much different amid the coronavirus pandemic. All indoor exhibits are closed, and visitors are funneled on a one-way walk around the zoo. More exhibits could open in the next two or three weeks, zoo director Dennis Pate said.
