METAIRIE, La. — After waiting out a weather delay at the beginning of Saturday’s game against New Orleans, the Storm Chaser offense got started quickly en route to a 5-1 win.

Omaha (2-1) staked Christian Binford to a 3-0 lead before the Royals’ minor league pitcher of the year last season took the mound for his second career Class AAA start. Moises Sierra’s two-run double highlighted a three-run first, and Brett Eibner hit Omaha’s first homer of the season — a solo shot in the third — to provide all the offense the Chasers would need.

Binford threw 70 pitches in four innings, allowing one run on four hits and three walks with a strikeout. Joe Paterson (1-0), one of three Omaha relievers who didn’t allow a run, picked up the win.

Five of the Chasers’ eight hits were for extra bases.
