Deverell Biggs, an Omaha Central grad and former Nebraska point guard, starts for Texas Southern, the SWAC tournament champion.

The Tigers (22-12) are making their second straight NCAA tournament appearance, with senior Biggs averaging 11.8 points in 25 games and shooting 38 percent from 3-point range.

Texas Southern is the No. 15 seed in the West regional and will play second-seeded Arizona on Thursday in Portland, Oregon.

At Central, Biggs led the Eagles to Class A state championships in 2007, 2008 and 2010.

As a junior at Nebraska last season, Biggs averaged 9.9 points in 15 games before being dismissed from the program.
