Storm thunders past Meridian

POLK – The High Plains Storm geared up for the Class D1-4 Subdistrict at Cross County starting tonight with a 70-10 thrashing of the Meridian Mustangs in their CRC regular season finale Friday.

High Plains (20-2) led 16-2 at the end of the first quarter and 34-6 at the halftime break.

Meridian managed just two points in the third quarter as compared to 25 for the Storm which led 59-8 at the end of 24 minutes.

High Plains was 28-of-47 from the field for 60 percent and connected on 8-of-20 from the 3-point arc.

The Storm finished the game 6-of-10 at the free throw line.

In scoring, Cole Klingsporn led the way with 22. Thomas Young hit for 15 points and a team high eight rebounds, while Cale Harless had 14 points.

No individual or team stats were provided for the Mustangs.

High Plains (20-2) will take on Nebraska Lutheran (6-11) tonight at 6 p.m. in the first round of the subdistrict tournament.
