Elkhorn South RB Cole Ballard will walk on at Nebraska

One of Nebraska's most electric high school football players will be staying in the state for college.

Elkhorn South running back Cole Ballard announced on Saturday that he will walk on at Nebraska. Ballard led the state with 38 touchdowns in 11 games while averaging 10 yards per carry in a 1,480-yard rushing season.

Of his 38 touchdowns, 32 were rushing scores and four were receiving touchdowns in addition to a pair of punt return scores. At 6-feet tall and 190 pounds, Ballard's elusiveness and breakaway speed allowed him to impact games with limited touches.

His electric senior year included a three-week stretch of incredible efficiency. Ballard started with a three-touch game where all three went for touchdowns, followed by an eight-carry game with four touchdowns against Omaha Central and a six-touchdown performance on just 13 carries against Fremont.

Now, he'll hope to bring that same play-making ability to Nebraska as a walk-on running back.
