Four-star guard Parker Friedrichsen on sidelines for Nebraska vs. Georgia Southern

Husker fans ahead of the Georgia Southern vs. Nebraska football game at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln on Saturday, September 10, 2022.

Four-star guard Parker Friedrichsen was hanging out on the sidelines at Memorial Stadium before Saturday’s game against Georgia Southern.

The top prospect on Nebraska men's basketball recruiting board visited Lincoln for the third time as a recruit this weekend, but he estimated that he’s attended around 25 Husker football games in his life.

That’s because the Friedrichsens have several family members that live in Nebraska, and Parker’s father, one of four relatives who accompanied Parker on NU’s sidelines Saturday, grew up in Lincoln.

Now Friedrichsen is strongly considering a move to Nebraska as well. The Huskers, along with Notre Dame, Northwestern, Davidson and Rice, made the shooting guard’s final five list of schools released last month.

Friedrichsen visited Davidson late last month while the Wildcats celebrated Stephen Curry’s graduation, and Friedrichsen visited Notre Dame last weekend. He is scheduled to visit Northwestern next weekend.

NU’s pregame crowd impressed Friedrichsen, who pointed his cellphone camera around the stadium. Nebraska coaches and staffers chatted up Friedrichsen’s parents, and Nebraska guard Sam Hoiberg introduced Friedrichsen to a Husker cheerleader.

Friedrichsen would be the second commit in NU’s 2023 class if he picks the Huskers.

Three-star wing prospect Eli Rice committed on Aug. 10. Three-star guard Chase Clemmons, who originally committed to Nebraska, reopened his recruitment last week.
