Norris catcher Jakson Reetz has agreed to an $800,000 signing bonus with the Washington Nationals, according to Big Ten baseball reporter Chris Webb.
Reetz, selected in the third round of the Major League draft with the 93rd pick overall, joins Milwaukee Brewers signee Monte Harrison as University of Nebraska recruits who chose to sign pro contracts. Harrison, from Lee’s Summit, Missouri, signed for $1.8 million.
A two-time All-Nebraska selection, Reetz recently was named the state’s Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year. He batted .487 and drove in 37 this past spring for the Class B Titans.
