Jordan Larson joining Midland University volleyball staff

The three-time Olympic medalist and three-time Nebraska volleyball All-American Jordan Larson has returned to the state of Nebraska.

The former Husker has taken a position as a volunteer assistant at Midland University.

"I'm excited to be back in the area," Larson said in a press release. "I have a lot to learn in coaching, but I hope to have a similar mindset to what I have as a player. There are things I need to learn, but I'm excited to get better every day and see where it goes."

The Warriors are ranked No. 1 in the NAIA.

"Jordan lends instant credibility whenever she walks into practice," Midland coach Paul Giesselmann said. "She's had an opportunity to be coached by the best coaches in the world and she will bring so many different perspectives that our players can take advantage of. I've been coaching for 35 years and one thing you should always be doing as a coach is looking for ways to get better. This is an opportunity for our players to get better, and for me to learn more as a coach."

In addition to captaining the 2020 Olympic gold medal team, the Hooper, Nebraska, product was also recognized as the 2021 Women's Sports Foundation's Sportswoman of the Year for Team Sport and was inducted into the Nebraska Athletics Hall of Fame in 2020.

During her four seasons with the Huskers (2005-08), she recorded 1,600 kills, 1,410 digs and a school-record 186 aces. In 2006, she helped the Nebraska defeat Stanford in the national championship, hitting the final kill of the match.
