SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Tony Calderone, Todd Skirving and Victor Bjorkung each registered a goal and an assist Saturday as Sioux Falls defeated the Omaha Lancers 4-2.

The loss ends the Lancers’ season.

Omaha (34-29-1) finished fifth in the USHL Western Conference with 69 standings points.

Sioux Falls opened the scoring less than two minutes into the contest when Bjorkung launched a left-point slapshot at the right post for his seventh goal of the season.

The Stampede doubled their lead just 14 seconds later as Calderone slipped behind the Lancers’ defense before sending in his 29th goal of the year.

Omaha cut the deficit in half just more than four minutes into the second period when Tyler Hynes notched his sixth goal of the season from the left wing. Nash Worden collected the assist.

Sioux Falls reestablished its two-goal lead less than two minutes later, when Dakota Joshua won a battle for a loose puck near the Lancers’ goal crease before converting his first career USHL goal.

The Lancers trimmed the lead back to a single goal with less than five minutes remaining in the period when Ryan Tait pounced on a rebound atop the goal crease and drove in his third goal of the year. Jimmy Schuldt and Jake Bischoff assisted on the goal.

David Jacobson earned the victory in goal for the Stampede, collecting 22 saves on 24 shots. Cole Bruns suffered the loss for Omaha, making 21 saves on 25 shots. Bruns ended the season with an 8-8 record.
