BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — The Omaha Lancers let a third-period lead against Bloomington slip away, then fell in a shootout 4-3 on Saturday.
The Lancers (1-5-2) took a 3-2 lead 4:55 into the third period on Niklas Folin’s power-play goal. But the Thunder’s Ryan Galt tied the game less than two minutes later, then had the only goal in the shootout.
Omaha trailed 2-0 after Matt Nuttle’s goal 17 seconds into the second period, but Jake Henderson and Jimmy Schuldt scored 36 seconds apart later in the period to tie the game.
Shane Gersich had two assists for the Lancers, while Kris Oldham made 33 saves in goal. Gersich leads the team with nine points on the season.
Omaha was outshot 37-28, but held Bloomington scoreless on four power-play opportunities.
Galt, Nuttle and Jack Jenkins finished with a goal and an assist for the Thunder. Goaltender David Jacobson stopped 25 shots.
Omaha plays a pair of games next weekend, hosting Dubuque on Friday before traveling to Des Moines on Saturday.
