Washburn 58, UNK 13: Washburn scored seven straight touchdowns, stretching from the start of the second quarter to the start of the fourth, to roll past UNK in the season opener for both teams. Quarterback Bronson Marsh was 16 for 30 for 163 yards and rushed for 79 yards on 20 carries in his Loper debut. The Loper defense gave up 520 yards of total offense to Washburn.
Chadron State 40, Missouri S&T 34, 2OT: Lane Haller returned an interception 79 yards in the second overtime to lift the Eagles to a comeback road victory. Chadron State trailed 27-20 after S&T tailback Zenel Hudson scored a 2-yard touchdown with less than three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Chadron State quarterback Jonn McLain, who completed 37 of 58 passes for 341 yards, hit Cody Roes for a 12-yard touchdown with 44 seconds to play to send the game into overtime tied 27-27.
Northwest Missouri State 45, Saginaw Valley 24: Quarterback Trevor Adams completed 15 of 20 passes for 285 yards and a touchdown, and Clint Utter caught four passes for 160 yards for the Bearcats. Northwest Missouri State scored five touchdowns in the first half, leading 35-17 at halftime.
