EMERSON, Ga. — Eastern Michigan scored four times in the bottom of the first inning as it pulled away for an 8-1 win over UNO on Sunday at the Perfect Game Complex.

Jackson Martin capped the first inning for Eastern Michigan with a two-run home run to left off Maverick starter Shane Meltz.

Eastern Michigan (3-1) expanded its lead to 6-0 before UNO got an RBI single from Clayton Turner in the seventh inning. But the Mavs left the bases loaded and went in order the final two innings.

Freshman catcher Josh Scribner led the Mavs with two hits.

Meltz was tagged with the loss, allowing four earned runs, four hits and four walks in 2 1⁄3 innings.

UNO returns to action next weekend with another trip to Emerson for four more neutral-site games. The Mavs face Saint Louis on Friday.
