Expect one more cool and breezy day in the Omaha area before a hint of spring arrives.

Forecasters said today should start under cloudy skies before gradually becoming mostly sunny. A high temperature near 40 and north-northwest winds gusting as high as 25 mph also are likely.

Wednesday night into early today, some locations in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa received a trace of precipitation — light snow and light rain. Authorities warned that some slick spots could occur on Omaha-area roads during this morning’s commute.

A warm-up is to begin Friday, when sunny skies and a high near 51 are forecast, the National Weather Service office in Valley said.

Weekend temperatures will climb even more, forecasters said, with Saturday’s high near 64 and Sunday’s high near 57.

Monday is to remain warm and sunny, the weather service said, with a high near 59.

Conditions will change Tuesday, said forecasters, who called for a chance of rain and snow and a high near 42 in the Omaha area.
