Dr. Joel Schlessinger and Dr. Daniel Schlessinger
Schlessinger MD, an Omaha leader in dermatology, cosmetic surgery and Mohs surgery, has consistently achieved national recognition for Dr. Joel Schlessinger’s innovative approach to skin health. After more than 25 years of practice, Dr. Joel will now be joined by his son, Dr. Daniel Schlessinger, also a board-certified dermatologist as well as Mohs surgeon and cosmetic surgeon.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome my son, Daniel, to the practice,” says Dr. Joel Schlessinger. “Our patients will truly benefit from this addition, as his expertise and skills as a physician are truly remarkable.”
An Omaha native and graduate of Millard North High School’s International Baccalaureate Program, Dr. Schlessinger attended Northwestern University’s prestigious Honors Program in Medical Education with Honors in Classics, followed by medical school at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. After medical school, he completed a rigorous Preliminary-Medicine internship year at Harvard’s Massachusetts General Hospital, followed by a dermatology residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital / Washington University in St. Louis, where he served as chief resident.

He then returned to Northwestern University to complete a dual-accredited fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery as well as cosmetic dermatologic surgery. This intensive training equips him with advanced skills in skin cancer removal and facial reconstruction, ensuring optimal outcomes for his patients.
In addition to clinical patient care, Dr. Schlessinger remains active in academic research, product development and medical writing. After coming up with the idea for a medicated lip and body balm at age 12, he co-founded FixMySkin Healing Balms with his dad and grandfather and successfully obtained two patents for the 1% hydrocortisone balm formulation. FixMySkin is now a very popular, innovative solution for several common skin problems like dry skin, chapped lips, psoriasis, eczema, insect bites, allergic skin reactions and more. It is sold on LovelySkin.com and at hundreds of doctors’ offices around the world.
Dr. Daniel is considered by many to be a thought leader and national expert on the subject of artificial intelligence in dermatology. He has published dozens of articles and co-authored several book chapters on dermatology, dermatologic surgery and artificial intelligence.

With a focus on cutting-edge dermatological treatments, Schlessinger MD continues to bring on innovative treatments for both medical and cosmetic issues. The clinic will add more space to accommodate increased nursing and skin cancer surgery needs and has added a new suite of cutting-edge lasers that are designed to address fine lines, wrinkles, sun spots and sun damage, and discoloration with minimal downtime.
“To me, patient education is everything,” says Dr. Daniel Schlessinger. “By combining advanced medical and surgical techniques with this patient-centered approach, we can achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients’ skin health and overall well-being.”
