Foot and ankle injuries can affect your daily life, from walking the dog to staying active at work or participating in sports. Yet care for these complex conditions may require the attention of more than a single specialist. That’s what sets OrthoNebraska apart.
Unlike many healthcare providers, OrthoNebraska brings podiatrists and orthopedic surgeons together, creating a collaborative approach that allows patients to receive comprehensive foot and ankle care under one roof. This approach means patients can get both surgical and nonsurgical care in one place, quickly and without bouncing between offices.
Foot and ankle conditions range widely in severity, from chronic pain and tendon injuries to fractures and sports-related trauma. By combining podiatric care with orthopedic surgery, OrthoNebraska’s teams can evaluate each case from multiple perspectives and determine the most appropriate course of action, whether that means physical therapy, advanced imaging, injections or surgery.
OrthoNebraska’s integrated approach is especially beneficial for patients with complex or recurring issues. When specialists work side by side, they can quickly consult, adjust treatment plans and coordinate care, resulting in more efficient visits and better outcomes. Patients also benefit from knowing their entire care team is on the same page, from diagnosis through recovery.

“Our goal is to make specialized foot and ankle care easier to access and easier to navigate,” said Dr. Kevin Grosshans, orthopedic surgeon at OrthoNebraska. “That team-based approach helps patients get answers sooner and recover with confidence.”
OrthoNebraska also pairs foot and ankle care with imaging and specialized physical therapy. This allows patients to move from evaluation to treatment with fewer obstacles and less time away from their routines.
That coordinated approach becomes even more important as the need for foot and ankle care grows across the region. To support patients while maintaining its team-based model, OrthoNebraska continues to expand access to specialized providers who work alongside orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists and imaging teams in the same clinics.
OrthoNebraska has added podiatrist Dr. Brett Vessell to its foot and ankle team. Vessell joins OrthoNebraska from Austin, Texas, bringing experience in podiatric medicine and a background in athletic performance as a former NCAA Track & Field First Team All-American. His training includes a doctorate in podiatric medicine from Midwestern University and a residency at the University of Louisville Hospital System. His addition further strengthens OrthoNebraska’s mission to provide comprehensive foot and ankle care close to home.
