Honesty. Care. Transparency. Affordability.
“We give the same care to every person who walks through our door because it’s their loved one that’s gone and that person is still very important to them,” said Nick Tank, funeral director at Good Shepherd Funeral Home in Omaha.
Whether it’s for a cremation or full service and burial, each client receives the same graceful and thorough support, with a nod to ease and convenience. Because the family-owned company has continually reinvested in its caring and loyal staff, its two facilities on 82nd Street and 90th Street, and its fleet of vehicles, families can choose from options that range from very simple and elegant to ornate and uniquely themed.
Tank said he meets privately with families in the arrangement room upon their arrival to plan the funeral or cremation. The seamless experience is executed digitally, without the usual mound of paperwork previously required during planning. Good Shepherd’s upgraded amenities, including new computer software and digital TVs, allow families to watch in real time as staff write the obituary. As information is entered into the computer, the details appear on the large screen in front of the family, allowing them to simultaneously edit and proof the obituary.
While families can view a selection of caskets and urns in the display room, Tank said they also have the option of browsing a vast selection digitally, which makes it easy to compare cost, custom features, colors and wood or metal varieties.
In the viewing room, the new sound and projector system provides multiple options for families interested in playing specific music, as well as sharing videos and photos of their loved one. The funeral home can also create a customized online memorial and tribute video, make it easy for friends and family to send flowers and even provide one year of free daily grief support emails to the families it serves.
Good Shepherd continues to invest in an array of personalized vehicles, including the area’s only motorcycle coach that attaches to a glass-walled trailer for the casket. Another popular option is the Rosewood Coach, a custom hearse with an all-glass back. Additional limos are also part of the available fleet.
“We are very family-focused at Good Shepherd and appreciate the support from the families we help serve during their loss,” Tank said. “We understand this is an incredibly emotional and stressful time in their lives and we are honored to be a part of planning a lasting tribute for their loved one.”
