Stitched inside every suit jacket and sportscoat at Jerry Ryan Clothing is the company’s namesake, and to owners Dan and John Ryan, one that is held close to the heart.
As the largest family-owned men’s clothing store in the state, Jerry Ryan Clothing has set an irreplicable precedent for the Omaha community. What first began as the earnest ambition of their father, Jerry Ryan, to mesh craftsmanship and customer service has now become the cornerstone of a 53-year family business. A homage towards simple beginnings.
From sweeping the floors of their father’s store to becoming business partners in 1995, the store’s president, Dan, and brother John lead with the same earnest ambition. One prized not by the sole necessity to sell clothes but the opportunity to connect through them.
“We’ve met people from every sport, business and walk of life,” says Dan. “Jerry Ryan Clothing is a family. We take care of people.”
An attention to detail is undoubtedly a shared characteristic amongst team members, and distinctly what sets the store apart. Awarded the 2026 Omaha Choice Award for Best Men’s Clothing Store, marking their tenth year as recipients, it comes as no surprise that the Omaha community sees it too.
The unwavering excellence surrounding the Ryan brothers stems from people like Tim Dymek, who, since 1985, has spent his Saturday mornings perfecting the store’s display. In-house tailors, Mounir Elbard and Kamela Rahmanzai, also share a collective 44 years at the store.
Dan and John celebrate their staff for their continued commitment to keeping the Ryan generation going. Jake and Aidan Ryan, who work at the store with their fathers, are the 4th generation of Ryans selling clothes in Omaha. John’s daughter, Shannon Sands, returned to the family business after a successful career in nonprofit. Sales staff Deanna Meyer brings over 10 years of experience and a multifaceted approach towards inventory buying, working alongside Wes Adams, a recent addition to the team.
What began as a haberdashery of suit and tie apparel in 1973 has expanded into sportswear, wedding attire, and logo apparel for Creighton University and The University of Nebraska.
“Our logo apparel business has grown the last 25 years along with our wedding business the last 15 to 20 years,” says John. “Our core business of men’s clothing has continued to grow since moving to the new store in 2022, this location has been a real positive.”
Tucked near the corner of 78th and Dodge, Dan and John continue their dad’s legacy. As third- and fourth-generation Jerry Ryan customers return to the store, Dan explains that some things never change.
“Our dad laid the foundation for us, he was everyone’s friend.” Pointing to the inside left pocket of his sportscoat, Dan reveals their logo neatly stitched inside. “When he first opened the store, Jerry wanted the store’s logo stitched into the left side of every coat. To keep the Jerry Ryan name close to everyone’s heart.”
