Custom artwork painted in Italy adds a one-of-a-kind touch to each location
Known throughout Kansas City as “The Best Little Upscale Neighborhood Joint,” Red Door Woodfired Grill is expanding into Omaha with a new location in Aksarben Village. The restaurant experience centers on woodfired cooking, handcrafted cocktails and an approachable atmosphere designed for everything from casual lunches to nights out on the patio.
At the center of the concept is a real woodfired grill, something that shapes much of the restaurant’s menu and identity. From burgers and steaks to seafood and vegetables, the cooking process adds a distinct layer of flavor that sets the tone for the entire dining experience.
The menu focuses heavily on scratch-made dishes crafted with fresh ingredients and prepared in-house daily. Guests can expect a lineup that balances comfort food favorites with elevated touches, including woodfired meats, fresh salads, seafood, sandwiches and rotating seasonal features.
“The woodfired grill is at the center of everything we do,” said Josh Pedersen, director of operations. “It brings a flavor and energy to the menu that guests immediately recognize, whether they’re joining us for a burger, prime rib, seafood or appetizers and cocktails on the patio.”
In addition to its everyday menu, Red Door Woodfired Grill has built a loyal following around its weekly favorites.
Burger Monday features a signature burger special that has become a popular start to the week, while Tuesdays spotlight “Half Off the Bar” during happy hour from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays bring one of the restaurant’s most talked-about features: jalapeño buttermilk fried chicken. Marinated for four days in jalapeño buttermilk, the hand-breaded chicken is pressure fried to perfection. Weekends lean into whiskey-soaked prime rib and brunch offerings that have become staples at existing locations.
Scratch-made favorites and woodfired flavor are at the center of the Red Door Grill experience
Beyond the kitchen, Red Door Grill has also developed a strong following for its bar program. The cocktail menu features handcrafted classics, seasonal creations, small-batch margaritas and mules, alongside an approachable whiskey and wine selection designed to pair naturally with the restaurant’s woodfired menu. The bar atmosphere is intended to feel just as welcoming for a casual happy hour as it does for a full night out with friends.
The Omaha location represents a new chapter for Red Door Grill as the brand brings its scratch-made, woodfired concept beyond the Kansas City market for the first time.
Aksarben Village is a natural fit for the restaurant’s next chapter. The area’s walkability, mix of entertainment and residential energy, and strong neighborhood identity align closely with the atmosphere Red Door Grill aims to create inside its dining rooms.
The Omaha location will feature indoor and patio dining, a full-service bar and the same balance of energetic hospitality and laid-back comfort that has helped define the brand elsewhere.
“Hospitality is just as important to the experience as the food,” said Angela Mitchell, director of training and development. “We want guests to feel comfortable walking in for a quick lunch, celebrating with friends at brunch or becoming regulars who know the team by name.”
Team members at Red Door Grill help create a welcoming dining experience
While the menu and wood-fired cooking may draw guests in initially, the experience is designed to encourage repeat visits, whether for a weeknight happy hour, weekend brunch, family dinner or gathering with friends. Guests can make reservations in advance.
