Access to orthopedic care is becoming more convenient for patients in southwest Iowa. Beginning June 1, OrthoNebraska’s Urgent Care clinic in Council Bluffs will expand its operating hours, giving patients more flexibility to be seen for injuries when they happen.
OrthoNebraska’s Council Bluffs Urgent Care will now be open on weekends for walk-ins from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Weekday hours will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Urgent care is designed to treat a range of acute injuries, including sprains, strains, minor fractures and sports-related injuries. With extended hours, patients will have more opportunities to receive care outside of a traditional clinic schedule.

“Injuries don’t always happen during the workday, and we recognize it’s not always convenient to seek specialty care during the typical workday,” said Dr. Craig Hansen, orthopedic surgeon. “By expanding our hours in Council Bluffs, we’re making it easier for patients to get the care they need, when they need it, without delays.”
OrthoNebraska’s orthopedic urgent care offers an alternative to emergency rooms for non-life-threatening injuries, often providing faster access to specialists who are specifically trained in musculoskeletal care. This can streamline the process for patients, from diagnosis to treatment, while reducing wait times and avoiding higher-cost care settings when appropriate.
The expanded hours are part of OrthoNebraska’s broader effort to improve access to orthopedic services across the region. As demand continues to grow, particularly for convenient, same-day care, providers are seeing the need for more flexible options that fit into patients’ schedules.
For many patients, that means being able to seek care after work, following a practice or game or when symptoms can no longer wait.
OrthoNebraska’s Council Bluffs location is staffed by orthopedic specialists and supported by on-site imaging and care teams, allowing patients to be evaluated and begin treatment in one visit. This integrated approach helps patients move more quickly from injury to recovery. With more flexible hours, patients have greater control over when and how they seek care.
