There’s nothing like a luxury vacation in a relaxing locale. So four decades ago, the founders of Creative Hair Design Salon and Spa decided to bring that jet-setting sense of indulgence home for the Omaha community to experience anytime, no airplane trip required.
Since 1992, Creative Hair Design has been repeatedly voted best in the Omaha area, thanks in large part to the staff’s skill at pairing a relaxing, upscale ambiance with high-quality service.
The newly remodeled spa area now offers unparalleled luxury. And the spa’s latest addition — a Himalayan salt room — is a perfect fit for clients who seek more natural ways of relaxing. “You lie down in what’s called ‘zero gravity lounge chairs’ for about 25 minutes, and the halo generator generates micro Himalayan salts into the air,” said John Mangiameli, president and owner of Creative Hair Design.
Facials, massages and nail treatments — all the services you’d expect from a top-rated resort — are provided on the elegantly appointed second floor spa, which features two enclosed massage rooms, 16 treatment rooms, three private manicure-pedicure rooms and three locker rooms (two for women, one for men) equipped with private steamers and showers.
“When people walk up there, it’s like they’re in a whole different environment,” said Mangiameli. “It’s almost like having a destination spa, but they don’t have the cost and travel expenses or the hassle of traveling.”
Group packages are available for couples, bridal parties, businesses and more. A unique Just for Him package features a variety of services for men who want to treat themselves to a quiet day of sophisticated relaxation with an enticing mix of spa and salon promotions.
Located below the spa is the salon, where clients book a large variety of hair services, ranging from cuts to color in just about every style imaginable.
“We offer a lot of specialty colors for ombres, balayages, melts, highlights and shadow roots,” said Mangiameli. “We also offer fashion colors, which could be bright fuchsia or bright green.”
Hair extensions are a popular option among Creative Hair Design’s fashionable clientele, Mangiameli said. “The extensions are hand tied, bonded or tape-ins.”
All hair services are provided by skilled stylists who, in addition to having a license in cosmetology, receive in-house training that has allowed them to cultivate a series of client-loved techniques like hair melts — professional color that blends naturally with one’s own color — and gold dusting — a highlight-like look for shorter hair.
“We have employees that have been with us for over 40 years,” said Mangiameli. “The camaraderie and the culture that we developed in the salon is why we’ve had people for that long.”
