An outdoor shade was installed outside the Gretna Children’s Library in 2020. The shade was installed while the library was closed, due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Children’s Library reopened on June 29, following the May 17 reopening of the main library.

Numerous hearts were displayed at the Gretna Children’s Library through Gretna Has Heart, a community art project coordinated by the Gretna Public Library in 2020. Submitted heart art was displayed in the Children’s Library windows throughout 2020 and some of 2021, while the space remained closed amid the coronavirus pandemic. The Children’s Library reopened June 29, following the May 17 reopening of the main library.
