A new state-of-the-art Sarpy County Veterans Health Clinic celebrated it’s grand opening with a ribbon cutting in Papillion on Friday, marking a significant expansion of healthcare services for local veterans.
During his address, Congressman Don Bacon highlighted the importance of veteran care. “Sadly, our veterans don’t always receive the care that they deserve, the care that they need,” he said. “As I’ve worked on veteran issues during my time in the United States Senate, I’ve seen, really all too often, the struggles that many veterans have when they try to receive care.”
Veteran B.J. Sievers’ art will be on display at the new Sarpy County VA clinic. This piece, titled “Bringing Back Memories,” captures the essence of Midwest Americana, inspired by Sievers’ memories of Nebraska’s Sandhills region.

Veteran Roy Penny donated two of his art pieces to be displayed at the new Sarpy County VA Clinic. This acrylic painting, titled "Calamus-Burwell NE," depicts Calamus Lake near Burwell, where he previously lived and still has family. Penny visits the area annually, making a stop at Calamus Lake, known for its white sandy beaches.
The new rehabilitation area at Papillion’s VA clinic marks the first time occupational and physical therapy will be offered in Sarpy County VA clinics.
